A talented Music Performance and Production student at The Henley College, Felix Richardson, has combined creativity, technical skill and dedication in an impressive final project: designing and building his own custom electric guitar.
Felix has been a highly dedicated student throughout his course, consistently showcasing his talent, enthusiasm and maturity both in and out of college. For his final project, where students are encouraged to create their own brief, he chose to take on the ambitious challenge of building a fully functional electric guitar from scratch.
Working with a high degree of independence, Felix collaborated with the Engineering department under the guidance of Tiernan Rebbeck. Tiernan has a long and successful history of building guitars himself, making it the perfect opportunity for collaboration, and both Felix and the Music department are very grateful for his expertise and support throughout the project.
The cross-department collaboration reflects the exciting opportunities available to students at The Henley College, combining creative ambition with technical craftsmanship.
Felix plans to use his new guitar when performing at Henley Festival this summer before progressing to the prestigious Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), where he will study for a BA in Music Performance.
Music teacher David Nicholas praised Felix’s dedication and ambition, describing the project as a reflection of both his musical passion and his willingness to challenge himself creatively.
Felix’s journey is a testament to what can be achieved through creativity, collaboration and determination, and he is certainly somebody to watch out for.
