From Classroom to City Law Firm: Amber-Rose’s Story

Starting A Levels can feel like a big step, but for Amber-Rose, that initial uncertainty quickly turned into confidence and opportunity.

Now studying Law, Psychology and Art at The Henley College, Amber-Rose joined in 2025 and has quickly made the most of everything on offer. “At first, I found college really nerve-racking and intimidating,” she explains, “but as I settled in, those problems faded away.”

A key factor in her decision was the breadth of subjects available. “Not many places I looked at provided Law, so when I saw Henley offered it, I was already convinced.” That decision has already led to an exceptional opportunity.

Amber-Rose successfully secured a highly competitive work experience placement at the global city law firm Skadden, through Causeway Education. The national application process is extremely selective, making this a significant achievement. The placement took place over half term and provided invaluable insight into the legal profession.

Her Law teacher, Alexis Lane, said:
“I am incredibly proud of Amber-Rose. To secure a placement with a firm like Skadden through a national process is a fantastic achievement. She showed real determination and professionalism throughout, and it is a great example of what our Law students can go on to achieve.”

Beyond her academic success, Amber-Rose has embraced college life fully. She describes Rotherfield as “so beautiful” and enjoys the creative atmosphere at Deanfield, adding that being close to the town and river is “a bonus during breaks.”

What has made the biggest impact, however, is the people. “My best memory so far is just meeting new people. Everyone’s so different and unique, and it’s made my time here even better.”

While she is still exploring her future, her ambitions are clear. “I’ve always loved art and also wanted to help people, especially through justice. I don’t know exactly what I want to do yet, but my subjects are keeping my options open.”

Her advice to others considering their next step is simple:

“It doesn’t matter if you don’t have everything figured out. You’re not supposed to at 15 or 16. Follow your interests and use them to guide you.”
