The Henley College celebrates student success and ambitious next steps on Results Day 2026

Students at The Henley College are celebrating today as they receive their A Level, vocational and technical qualification results and prepare to take their next steps into university, degree apprenticeships, employment and further training. 

The College is celebrating achievement across the breadth of its curriculum, with strong individual A Level performances alongside excellent outcomes across vocational, creative and technical programmes. 

Strong A Level performances 

Across 1,190 A Level entries, students achieved an overall 95.5% pass rate, which exceeds performance in 2025.  

Strong performances were recorded across a range of subjects. In Classical Civilisation, 30.8% of grades were awarded at A*–A and 46.2% at A*–B, while Photography saw 58.3% of grades awarded at A*–B and 75% at A*–C. 

Geography also performed strongly, with 40% of grades awarded at A*–B. 

Behind the figures are individual stories of achievement and ambitious next steps. 

Matthew Hawkins from Reading, who previously attended Denefield School, achieved an exceptional set of results across four demanding STEM A Levels: A* in Mathematics, A* in Physics, A in Further Mathematics and A in Chemistry. Matthew is now looking for an apprenticeship where he can put the skills and knowledge developed through his studies into practice.  

Matthew said: “I’m very happy with my results. It’s great to see all the hard work across four A Levels pay off, and I’m looking forward to what comes next.”

Nina Govett, who previously attended Gillotts School, achieved A* grades in Classical Civilisation and Mathematics, an A in Ancient History and a B in German. She will progress to the City & Guilds of London Art School to study Conservation of Books and Paper.  

Nina said: “I am very proud of myself for my results and am pleased that all my hard work has paid off. I have really enjoyed my time at Henley and look forward to the next chapter.”

Joshua De La Warr from Reading, who previously attended UTC Reading, achieved an A* in Mathematics and A grades in Computer Science, Chemistry and Physics. He will now progress to the University of Southampton to study Aerospace Engineering. Joshua said he was delighted that his hard work had paid off and particularly praised his Chemistry lessons and teacher Andrew Sutton.

Success across different pathways 

Students following vocational, creative and technical programmes are also celebrating strong results. 

The Henley College achieved a 100% T Level pass rate in 2026, compared with 92.6% nationally, while students completing Extended Diplomas achieved an impressive 99.4%. 

Among BTEC students, 67% achieved DMM or above, which is equivalent to ABB at A Level. 

Creative students also excelled, with 47.1% of students completing UAL Extended Diplomas achieving the highest Distinction grade. Particularly strong performances included Performing and Production Arts, where 53.8% achieved Distinction; Art, Design and Communication at 52.6%; and Creative Media Production & Technology at 47.6%.  

Together, the results reflect the breadth of opportunity at The Henley College and its focus on enabling students to pursue ambitious pathways that reflect their individual strengths and future goals. 

Ella Harrod from Woodley is celebrating an excellent combination of academic and vocational success, achieving Distinction* in Applied Psychology, Distinction* in Marketing and an A in A Level Dance. Ella, who said she was delighted to have exceeded her expectations, will now progress to the University of Leeds in September to continue her studies.

Vocational students look to their next chapter 

Among those celebrating is Remi Carlucci from Wallingford, who previously attended Wallingford School, who achieved an outstanding Distinction Star, Distinction Star, Distinction (D*D*D) in the Level 3 Sport and Exercise Science Extended Diploma.  

Remi said: “I’m really happy with my results – it’s such a joyful feeling. I’ve really enjoyed my time at Henley and the people here are amazing.” 

Remi is now looking forward to taking a gap year before deciding on the next step.

Josh Turton achieved three Distinction grades (DDD) in his BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science, securing the grades he needed for his first-choice university place at Loughborough University, where he will study Business Management. 

Alongside his studies, Josh has been an active member of The Henley College Performance Rugby Programme, an experience he described as a highlight of his time at College.  

Josh said: “I’m really happy that I’ve achieved the grades I needed to get into my first-choice university. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at Henley College and being part of the Rugby Programme was amazing.”

Ambitious destinations 

Across the College, students are now progressing to an exciting range of destinations, including university, highly competitive degree apprenticeships, employment and specialist training. 

The College's Aspire programme supports students with high academic aspirations, providing additional guidance, enrichment and preparation to help them pursue competitive university courses and other highly selective progression opportunities.  

This focus on aspiration sits alongside extensive careers and progression support across the College, helping students identify and prepare for the route that best matches their talents and ambitions. 

Degree apprenticeships offer another ambitious route 

Alongside university progression, students from The Henley College have secured highly competitive degree apprenticeships, combining university-level study with paid employment and professional experience. 

Toby Edwards from Reading, who previously attended Oakbank Free School, is progressing to a Business Degree Apprenticeship with WSH, based at Sky's headquarters in West London. 

Toby achieved an A* in Geography, a Distinction Star in Marketing and a B in Environmental Science. 

Toby said: “I’m really happy with the results I achieved. I was amazed to see an A* in Geography! That final push with revision, practice exam questions and support from my teacher really made it possible.” 

Looking ahead to his degree apprenticeship, Toby added: “I’m really looking forward to the opportunity. I’ll be gaining experience in the workplace while working towards my degree, which is a really exciting next step.”

There are many different routes to an ambitious destination

The Henley College attracts students from across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire to study in Henley-on-Thames. 

Its broad sixth-form curriculum spans A Levels, vocational and creative programmes and T Levels, giving students the opportunity to choose programmes that reflect their strengths while maintaining a clear focus on their future ambitions. 

For the Class of 2026, Results Day marks both the culmination of their time at Henley and the beginning of an exciting new chapter.
