Become an Independent Governor at The Henley College

Can you help shape the future of education for young people in our community?

The Henley College is seeking enthusiastic and committed individuals to join its Corporation Board as Independent Governors.

Being a governor is a rewarding and fulfilling voluntary role, providing an opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of students while contributing to the strategic direction and success of a thriving sixth form college.

We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals with expertise in one of the following areas:

  • Accountancy or Financial Leadership - qualified accountants or senior finance professionals who can contribute to financial oversight, risk management and long-term sustainability.
  • Further Education Leadership or Governance - individuals with significant experience within the Further Education sector who can bring insight into curriculum, quality, funding and the evolving FE landscape.

The Board is responsible for setting the College's strategic direction, monitoring performance and ensuring effective governance. Governors provide both support and constructive challenge and work alongside fellow governors and senior leaders to help the College deliver the best possible outcomes for students.

No previous governance experience is required. We welcome applications from individuals who share our commitment to education and are able to bring professional expertise, independent judgement and a willingness to contribute their time and experience.

The role is voluntary and unremunerated, although the personal and professional rewards can be considerable. Governors gain valuable experience, broaden their networks and have the satisfaction of contributing to the success of young people and the wider community.

If you would like to find out more, our Chair of Governors would be delighted to have an informal conversation with you about the role and what it involves.

For more information please contact the director of governance, Jacky Gearey on jgea@henleycol.ac.uk

Join us and help make a lasting difference to the future of The Henley College and its students.
