National Diploma in Business

This course will appeal to you if you have an interest in business and how it operates and enjoy studying a subject that is relevant to your life and experience. The National Diploma is an accepted qualification for entry into university and is an excellent preparation for those wanting to go into work.

Over the two years you will gain a practical understanding of how businesses organise themselves. You will be studying four compulsory units and fourteen optional units which will develop your knowledge of how businesses market their services and products, how they recruit and develop staff who are motivated to help the business achieve its objectives. You will learn how businesses plan and organise finance and use appropriate tools to check financial health. The course will also cover a range of other topics including how to present business information, the role of the manager in business, business law and the role e-commerce can play in business life.

There will be a two week period of work experience in the first year of the course and there will also be an opportunity to take part in trips to different business organisations.

You will be assessed internally by a variety of means, case studies, assignments, role-play and tests all marked by your lecturers.

On the course you will develop many skills that will help you in the work place and at university, including time management, communication and presentation skills.
