This qualification is equivalent in size to 1 A level and it has been designed as one third of a typical study programme, normally alongside A levels or other applied general qualifications at level 3.

In this qualification learners will study applied human biology which forms the foundation of the health and health science sectors.
The sectors are wide ranging, including, for example, nursing,
midwifery, allied health and sciences including life sciences,
clinical biomedical sciences and physiological sciences. There
are approximately 50,000 people employed in applied health
science occupations and over 3 million nurses in the UK.
Designed to support progression to
higher education when taken as part
of a programme of study that includes
other appropriate BTEC Nationals
or A Levels. This is a university for
Science based course – biomedical,
nursing, microbiology, genetics etc.
Alternatively, students may consider
direct entry in related employment or
an Apprenticeship in science-based
industries.
