Computing and Engineering

If you enjoy logic, problem-solving, taking things apart and rebuilding them - either physically or virtually - then our STEM courses in Computer Science, IT and Engineering are a great foundation for a rewarding career.

If you're interested in programming, databases or web development then you may wish to consider studying Computing or IT. Equally if you are keen on computer but haven't had a change to programme before, our courses start with the basics and will raise your competency to a high standard. You'll combine theory and practice on fastmoving and challenging courses. Whatever your level of prior experience, you'll find a range of activities to stretch, challenge and innovate. Our computing students really enjoy their studies and, to them further, A level students are encouraged to supplement the programme with the Extended Project. Engineering is increasingly seen as a desirable study and career option and is now a highly skilled profession for people with a scientific mindset. Opportunities for skilled engineers are broader, more plentiful and better-paid then ever before.

If you have a scientific brain and like to apply it to practical situations, our engineering courses are for you. Apprenticeships degrees, combining practical paid industry-based work and study, are gaining popularity and have opened up engineering careers to students who prefer to learn through hands-on experience. With this in mind, our L2 and L3 Engineering Diplomas are broad-based and give a solid grounding in all types of engineering. Our students have gone on to highly sought after apprenticeships in large companies and university courses to qualify in mechanical, automotive, aeronautical, civil and electrical engineering. With the future of engineering expanding to include software engineering, robotics, AI (artificial intelligence), gaming, cybersecurity and VR (virtual reality) the future demand for engineers is expanding rapidly which makes it a very attractive career route.

Student Profile

Oscar

Oscar achieved A*A*A* in Computer Science, Maths and Further Maths A levels.

“I’m very pleased with my results and with getting a confirmed place at my first choice of university. My favourite part about studying at the College was that it gave me a lot of freedom which allowed me to be more independent, and I feel that this independence will carry through into my university life.Support has been available to me on all my courses over the duration of my time at Henley. Even after lessons transitioned to being online, my teachers were happy to provide extra assistance if we required it.”

Oscar came to The Henley College from Langtree School and is going on to study Computer Science at The University of Bristol.

If you would like to study any of the courses mentioned above then you can apply now for study in September 2021 > Apply Online
