The Henley College Presents Sister Act: A Night of Laughter, Music, and Spectacular Moments

The Henley College is thrilled to announce the upcoming performance of Sister Act, a musical extravaganza that promises to be an unforgettable evening of laughter, music, and stunning performances. The Performing Arts students are ready to captivate audiences with their final college showcase at the Kenton Theatre, Henley-On-Thames.

In this lively musical comedy, disco diva Deloris, played by second year student Rhi Gildea (far left), witnesses a murder and finds herself in protective custody, hiding in the most unexpected place – a convent! The stage will come alive with the energy provided by our music students.

Students have been working immensely hard towards producing this spectacular performance, from organising a fundraiser bake sale to rehearsing weekly from as early as October (see images). We joined them for their final rehearsal before the first performance this Tuesday!

Here’s what some of the main cast had to say about rehearsing for Sister Act:

The Performing Arts community at The Henley College is amazing, everyone works so closely as a team, is incredibly inclusive and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Being the main character in Sister Act has been such a great experience. It's allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and be the best version of myself through my character. Deloris is a sassy, outgoing diva and it has been the most fun to be playing her”. - Rhi Gildea (Deloris Van Cartier in Sister Act)

My performing arts course has taught me so many new skills I can apply to my later life. Sister Act has developed my patience and has allowed me to gain new friendships. I enjoy playing my role in Sister Act as it is so different from any other parts I have played at Henley college, Sister Act has let me step out of my comfort zone and improve my acting skills.” - Poppy Barker (Monsignor O’Hara in Sister Act)

Being part of the Performing Arts community in The Henley College has allowed me to meet so many lovely people who are all clearly so passionate about Performing Arts. This college has taught me so much about performing arts, and I’ve loved all my new experiences and performances like Sister Act. I’ve enjoyed being part of Sister Act so much this year and all rehearsals have been so fun. I’ve loved every single moment of my time here as everyone is so welcoming and accepting.” - Jay Denton (Pablo in Sister Act)

I’ve absolutely loved being a part of Sister Act this year and every rehearsal. I will certainly miss having rehearsals with this insanely talented cast and have made so many friendships. I really couldn’t have asked for a better show to start Henley College with!” - Billy Bowerman (Joey in Sister Act)

I have really grown as I have worked towards my final performance as a second-year student. The experience feels a lot less daunting the second time around, and I have gained more confidence with suggesting things like scenes.” - Liv Toovey (Mary Robert)
