Students compete in the annual Chemistry Race 2024

Our Chemistry students teamed up to compete nationally at The Chemistry Race 2024, organised by the Oxbridge Universities.

At the beginning of February, our incredible team of first and second-year students, Emma, Sophie, Yass, Julia, and Maurie, rocked the annual Chemistry Race in Oxford University!

Our team of five competed against 100 teams from nationwide. The team tackled tricky chemistry problems with speed, accuracy, teamwork, and an all-around understanding, with only 2 hours to solve as many chemistry-related problems as possible.

Colin Suttie, teacher of Chemistry and Forensic Science at The Henley College expressed "It was really good working with these five students to help them prepare for the competition. They did so well on the day, and clearly enjoyed putting their chemistry knowledge to the test. I’m really proud of how well they did !”

The Chemistry Race is a new chemistry competition for teams of 3-5 sixth-form students, organised by students at the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford. The teams race against each other in solving chemistry problems; whoever gets the most points within the time limit wins!

Congratulations to the whole team and a massive thank you to the wonderful Chemistry department for giving them this amazing opportunity to compete and gain real-life experience.
