Travel and Tourism Students Organise Brilliant Local Events

Our Travel & Tourism students have been organising and carrying out multiple events in the local area. Designed and put on to offer specific groups of people activities they will enjoy, have a read if the fantastic work they were able to achieve!

Over the last few months, our Travel & Tourism students have been partaking in and running some brilliant events.

Ella Eacott, Nayha Nadeem, Tessa Kamara and Molly Hancock orchestrated a superb Halloween event back in the October half-term. The event took place at the River and Rowing museum for children. They had 327 visitors on the day, which only goes to show that the organisation and implementation of the event was superb. The feedback from visitors was extremely positive with one person stating that it was ‘a smashing event’. All the visitors left happy, with plenty of good things to say further demonstrating that all four students involved did a superb job and should be proud of their success!

An additional Halloween event also took place, at Lashbrook care home. Several of our students organised a Halloween themed word search for the residents as well as some free cake that they handed out. The group of six students then went onto perform a dance routine to ‘Monster Mash’ in keep with the Halloween theme. Dominique Wright, Jack Potter, Sakile Graham, Roxanna Hood, Isobel Buckner and Joy Rushton can be seen pictured at Lashbrook care home after carrying out a brilliant event.

A final event took place again at Lashbrook care home on Monday 16th December 2019. This was a Christmas event put on for the residents of the care home to get them all in the Christmas spirit! Our group of six students started off with two games of bingo and followed it up with some Christmas poems and songs. Everyone actively participated in the games and everyone managed to win a prize. Travel and Tourism teacher Hannah McPhee stated that “Our main objective was to bring the Christmas spirit to the care home and by judging the high levels of participation of the elderly people, we believe that we have successfully met our objective.”

There was additional praise from one of the workers at the care home, Lauren, who said “I would like to personally wish you a huge congratulations for hosting such a successful event at Lashbrook Care Home yesterday. You should feel very proud of yourselves for how well you worked together as a team, you have done the college very proud. I really enjoyed playing bingo and it was lovely to see you all interact so well with the residents. Well done on reading the poems and singing the Christmas songs so confidently. It was also noted how their faces lit up when you handed out the muffins and chocolate rolls to them. The staff were clearly very impressed with you all.”
