The Henley College becomes an England Rugby Partner

England Rugby has announced The Henley College as a Rugby Partner. The exclusive partnership, selected as one of only 8 Colleges nationally, reflects the drive for change from the RFU and ECRFU, towards a safer, more inclusive, and attractive game, enabling positive player experiences.

Mike Hart, RFU School & Colleges Manager said:  

“We are proud that rugby is a sport for everyone, the games values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship help produce well-rounded learners, who are confident, resilient, and aspirational. We are grateful that rugby continues to be a sport of choice for The Henley College, introducing new players to our sport and supporting talented players on the pathway is highly valued.” 

As a flagship college, we will adhere to the following values: 

Safe – Utilise the RFUs Rugby safe, coach, match official training programmes, advocating best practise, providing a safe and enjoyable environment for rugby.  

Inclusive – Provide a rugby provision that caters for all skills, motivations, and genders.  

Player Centred – Develop young people through the college journey, whilst using the vehicle of rugby to shape positive on and off field behaviours. 

Head Coach Tom Redfern said “We are delighted to partner with England Rugby and become one of eight recognised Colleges nationally. We look forward to working with our friends at England Rugby to continue developing our rugby offer, developing meaningful competition & providing lots of on & off field opportunities. We are a college that has a robust male & female programme & through this partnership we hope to enhance this further".

As well as our Elite Boys Programme, we have an outstanding performance provision for Elite Girls Rugby. I am enormously proud of the Rugby coaching team at The Henley College, led by Tom Redfern and professionals from Ealing Trailfinders, who relentlessly pursue excellence and high standards in all that they do.”
