Subject Spotlight: Sport and Exercise Science Extended Diploma

Start your journey to a career in the sports industry this Autumn.

Our Sport and Exercise Science Extended Diploma is a widely recognised qualification specially designed to help you either prepare for further study in sports sciences, or to move into employment in the sports industry.

Providing the theory behind the practice this diploma will develop your extended writing skills, the ability to meet deadlines and how to complete effective research. You’ll also gain a greater understanding of the sports industry’s requirements, while being graded on internal project based assessments and external set tests and written exams.

After studying this course former students have gone on to careers in sports management, coaching, physiotherapy, sports nutrition, and sports journalism, amongst others.

The College has impressive sports facilities, including our recently renovated sports hall and fitness, strength and conditioning suite, and students are encouraged to study this diploma alongside one of our other sports programmes, such as the Elite Rugby Player Programme, in partnership with the Ealing Trailfinders.

Student Profile

Ethan Rogers combined the Sport and Exercise Science Extended Diploma with the Elite Rugby Player Programme. He was one of our Class of 2020 Education Award winners and plans to study Sport and Exercise Science at Bath University.

We caught up with Ethan to ask him about his time at the College:

What attracted you to study at The Henley College? 

The opportunity to combine my education with an elite rugby programme.

What have you enjoyed most about your chosen subject(s)? 

The course covered all key units, which gave me a good insight prior to considering the syllabus available at various Universities.

How do you feel the College has supported you with your studies and on a personal level? 

Feedback has always been encouraging, and teachers have been clear with the standards expected to achieve assignment grades.

What is your best memory of your time at The Henley College? 

The opportunity to train with the English women's rugby team.

What do you feel has been your greatest achievement whilst at the College? 

I have consistently maintained standards throughout the course allowing me to reach the best possible grade.

Do you feel The Henley College has helped you to positively work towards your future goals? 

Yes. The course has prepared me well for University and helped me to develop my independent research skills.
