Students BTEC Success

Student Katie Allen has just finished her Level 3 Extended Diploma in Children’s PLD/Health and Social Care. She achieved an amazing overall grade of D*D*D*!! (Equivalent to 3 A*’s at A-Level.)

Katie achieved two distinctions and one merit in the 3 exam units. This is a fantastic achievement as it makes her one of the few BTEC students on the new style of assessment to achieve this grade on a national level.

Katie said – “During my time on the course learning has been delivered through a combination of class based learning, as well as through practical placement experience. I feel that having a mix of these two learning styles has enabled me to further develop my knowledge and skills, and has been useful for allowing me to develop a more practical approach by applying learning to real-life situations within the workplace.”

“I enjoyed having the opportunity to carry out my work placements in a variety of different settings, working with children of all ages. From doing so I have been able to gain first-hand experiences of what it is like to work in lot of different environments."

“The teachers at The Henley College have been very supportive throughout my time on the course, and have helped encourage me to aim high. They've always been willing to give me guidance or advice. The College has been a great place to study and offers good quality courses, I’ve also made some great friendships whilst studying.”

“I would recommend choosing a BTEC Qualification as opposed to A-Levels if you are looking for a course that has a more practical approach, as it is useful for developing many everyday skills that can help provide a starting point for anyone considering a career in the Public Sector.”

Katie is now looking forward to potentially becoming an Early Years Educator!
