Student Katie Crowhurst wins women’s Para triathlon at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Katie Crowhurst competed in the Para Triathlon at the Commonwealth Games on Sunday 31st July in Birmingham and won a gold medal alongside her guide Jessica Fullagar in only their second race together.
The pair overtook Jessica Tuomela from Canada who was leading during the cycling laps and at one point Katie suffered through a stitch whilst running but powered on to victory. Katie was the youngest competitor in the race at only eighteen years old.

Originally Katie's sole sport was swimming however when Lockdown happened she took up running and cycling to keep up her fitness as the pools were closed and switched to Para Triathlon.
Katie, who is partially-sighted, lives in Maidenhead and is studying A-Level PE, Geography and Environmental Science.
The World Championships in Abu Dhabi later this year and the Paris 2024 Paralympics are what Katie aims to tackle next.
