Spring Application Competition Winner

Current Cox Green student and potential Henley College student, Katie Crowhurst wins Spring Application Competition.

Katie currently attends Cox Green Secondary School in Maidenhead. She has applied to Henley College to study A levels in PE, Geography and Philosophy. She chose Henley because she had heard many good things about the college and when she visited on one of their open evenings, the friendly and accommodating nature of the college sealed the deal.

Katie sad “I like the more mature learning style that college life presents compared to school sixth form. It will be a new refreshing change to study somewhere where I can be more independent and take charge of my studies. Henley is a beautiful town and the college has a great reputation in terms of sport and PE. I also know that the student support services, particularly disability support, is outstanding at the college but to be honest my number one reason for applying was…
So that I could spend every day with Otis!”

She went on to say “Thank you so much for the vouchers I’m not too sure what I’m going to spend it on yet but I can’t wait to get shopping”.

On her choices of A levels Katie said “I chose PE A level because I thought it would help compliment my sporting journey as I’m currently part of GB’s para swimming squad (as a visually impaired athlete). I chose Geography because I have really enjoyed studying it at GCSE and I’m considering a possible future career as a geography teacher and I chose philosophy as something a bit new and challenging and intriguing”

Katie’s Mum said “I’m so pleased Katie chose Henley I know she’ll be happy there and thrive. I just can’t wait for September to start and the next chapter of her life to begin. The staff at Henley have been amazing and incredibly supportive especially around Katie’s special educational needs’.
