Public Services students adapting to online learning

Public Services students tell us how they are doing during lockdown and what their hopes are for the future.

We caught up with our Public Services teacher Andrew Unsworth and two his second year students, Priyanni and Georgia, to find out how they are all getting on with online learning during the current lockdown and what their plans for the future are.

"I am very proud of all of the of the students who have been able to adapt to the new way of working remotely as they haven’t been hit with exam cancelations they have continued with the vast amount of coursework required in the Level 3 Public Services course. Currently the second year students are looking at Health and Safety legislation and recent examples of PPE, the first year students are currently learning about crime theories and the impact that crime has on society." – Andrew Unsworth, Public Services and Social Services Teacher

"This year learning at the Henley College has been just as good as it was without Covid, my teachers and the college in general have adapted their lessons to provide us with what we need and they are always available to help, especially now we are online. My target grade from my teachers and set by myself for the end of my Public Services course, is D*D*D* and so far this year, I am on track to achieve this. I have also applied for university this year, to study Criminology. I applied to University of Leicester, University of Derby, University of Portsmouth, Nottingham Trent University and Birmingham City University. I received offers from all 5 and have firmed Leicester, I can't wait." - Priyanni Varsani, second year student

"I have applied to roughly 5 law firms in London in order to participate in their solicitor apprenticeship to pursue my future career as a solicitor. This requires me to have a grade of D,D*D* and i can confidently say that i am heading in the right direction to getting this grade or potentially higher due to the help and support from my teachers and the college. Looking at my potential future, next year i hope to be a successful solicitor apprentice working in one of the largest law firms in the UK! Both Henley college and my public services teachers all assist me in solving my doubts/queries in order to express a sense of confidence in my work and me as an individual." – Georgia Lewendon, second year student
