The Henley College is always bringing in external guest speakers to ensure learning is increasingly engaging for students. Recently, Warwick University PhD student Reno Roberts visited The Henley College to give Year 2 Biology students a talk on Biomedical Science.

Warwick University PhD student Reno Roberts visited The Henley College this week to give Year 2 Biology students a talk on Biomedical Science degree courses and what to expect when they start university. She also delivered a section of their A-level course as a university style lecture, working with Science Teacher Rebecca Pitt.

Curriculum Leader Jon Lagden said ‘preparing our students for their next stage in their life is an important part of our job here at the College and being able to chat to a recent graduate is just one of the ways we can do this’. Reno, who specialises in neurophysiology, said she was impressed with the questions asked by the College students and their commitment to their studies.

Giving our students a greater insight into life after college ensures that they are well prepared to go on and succeed. This is proven to work from statistical data that highlights students from The Henley College who go onto study at Russel Group universities, are more likely to achieve a First Class degree than students from private schools.

The independence and responsibility given to students, alongside regular external talks that highlight the realities after college, really allow our students to grow and prepare for their next steps. The Henley College is proud of the results that students are achieving consequently to this.
