Henley Student Reflects on College Experience

George Ducta reflects on some of his best times with us at the college and how it has motivated him to achieve some great things in his future.

My name is George Dutca, I come from Romania and I am currently studying at Henley College.

I came to The Henley College in September 2018. I am studying Business, Economics and Mathematics. At first it was a challenging experience studying 2 subjects that I have never done before. But due to hard work, devotion and the help of my teachers I was able to perform well in them.

When I first saw The Henley College I was hugely impressed by the rural setting of it. The fact that it is divided into 2 buildings makes it different from other colleges and that helped me decide to join.

I chose to come here because the college has a really good reputation and additionally it is located in a lovely, vibrant town, just minutes away from the centre. It is the perfect setting for college as both campuses are modern and equipped with great facilities and then it is so easy to go into town when not at college.

My best memory at Henley College would be the day I started. The very first day was amazing. Being in a new environment with new people and teachers is really exciting and it set me up perfectly to achieve at the college.

The person who influenced me to choose the subjects that I am currently studying is my Mum. She always told me that being an accountant would be really nice and that this career suits me. So I decided to follow her advice and I am really glad I did.

My ambitions for the future are to become a fully qualified accountant. I will work hard until my exams to make sure I will achieve the grades I want and with the support from all the staff at the college, I am sure that I will achieve this.

The Henley College did a great job in creative an environment that allowed me to really enjoy my life as a Henley student. That is because all of the teachers from the subjects I do helped me a lot with any of the problems I had. Every time I had a question they were more than happy to answer it and make sure I understand. For that, I am extremely thankful to this college and my teachers Sarah Price, Paul Morse and Jon Lagden. They have all really supported me throughout my time at the college.
