Grayson Perry buys outfit off of former student

Former student Dan Williams sells his design to contemporary artist Grayson Perry.

Former student Dan Williams has sold one of his designs to contemporary artist Grayson Perry.

Textiles teacher, Claire Elms tells us about Dan's journey “Dan did not study Art at school and came to Textiles with an open mind, believing that anything was possible. His interest in Philosophy led him to some really interesting concepts and he worked with pattern, clothing, movement and film.

He was always in the studio and when he told me he wanted to apply to Central Saint Martins, I was excited and pleased that he enjoyed this new subject so much that he wanted to pursue it.

There are over two and a half thousand applications to the Foundation at Central Saint Martins (CSM) and Dan got in. He moved to London and hasn’t looked back. He’s currently studying for a degree at CSM. Next year, in his gap year, he’s off to Switzerland to do an art residency.

I was thrilled to see that Grayson Perry had bought one of his designs and I extremely proud of him and all that he’s done.”

We love hearing success stories from ex-students, like Dan, who take control of their education and independently pursue their passion.

Well done Dan!
