Former student takes home awards at Midlands Media Awards

Hesham Abdelhamid studied A levels in Media Studies, English Language & Literature, Sociology and the Extended Project whilst here. He is currently studying at the University of Gloucestershire in his third year. Hesham has recently been awarded Student Journalist of the Year (2019) by The Birmingham Press Club!

The Henley College Alumni Hesham Abdelhamid was nominated for 2 awards at the Midlands Media Awards, Best Culture Writer and Beat Features Writer. He was awarded Best Features Writer for his work on Artificial Intelligence within the fashion industry, fake news and professional humility. Having won Best Features Writer early on in the evening, Hesham was then eligible for the Student Journalist of the Year award. He said “I am eternally grateful for the judges' recognition of my work.” You can find out more about the event and the judge's comments here.

Hesham said about his time at The Henley College- “I owe all my successes to The Henley College. The training I received from the Media department and the English department was so vital to me finding my own voice in such a saturated industry. My A-level English teacher helped me massively through improving the quality of my writing and helping me develop ways to showcase my personality with the power of a pen.”
