Jack Frewin returned to College to talk about his recent theatre appearance and give some advice to current students
On the weekend that theatres reopened to the public, Jack Frewin joined the ensemble of Intermissions, a one-off live event featuring music, interviews and special guest appearances from theatre musical stars and directors, at the Vaudeville Theatre in the West End.
Jack studied BTEC Performing Arts at The Henley College, and starred in Christmas productions of Grease and Our House.
After completing his BTEC Jack studied a foundation course at Read College before moving on to study Musical Theatre at Performance Preparation Academy (PPA) in Guildford, where he is currently in his 3rd Year.
During his time at PPA Jack has performed in academy productions of Evita, Our House, Pippin and Spring Awakening, as well as taking the lead in Saturday Night Fever. He has also gained professional experience by appearing in panto, performing to audiences of over 700 people per performance.
Fresh from his West End performance, Jack returned to the College last week to talk to current Performing Arts students and offer them some advice.
He said of his time at the College:
“It was fantastic to take part in the Christmas shows and have the opportunity to perform to friends and family. I really loved the relationship I had with my teachers, and I felt very comfortable.
I think very fondly of my time here and I’m very happy to come back and help inspire students to take the next steps in their careers. There is no limit to what you can achieve at The Henley College.”
Speaking about applying to drama school, Jack advised students to choose the right school for them, rather than getting too distracted by prestigious names. He also said it was important to connect with the teachers at the entrance audition, and to look at how many hours the schools devote to each discipline and whether that fits with what they want to focus on.
