Eve Will be The Next Student Union President

Get to know the next Student Union President!

Eve is sixteen, lives in Reading and previously went to Kings Academy Prospect. She is studying Politics, Psychology and Economics.

What do you enjoy most about being at the College?

I really enjoy the freedom it brings and getting to know people from all around the area of Henley - I have met so many new friends!

What is important about the SU at The Henley College?

It is really the voice for the students - this means we have a responsibility to find out what really matters to the student body and get it done.

What changes are you hoping to make?

Me and Rosie hope to create bi-termly/monthly drop in sessions for student union - so people who want to get their views heard, but don’t want the commitment of coming every week, can take part!

Do you have a favourite place at The Henley College?

I think my favourite place has got to be my Politics teacher’s classroom - I know whenever me and my friends are in there we’re going to have so much fun learning.

Who is your PPD Tutor and what has your experience of the PPD programme been like so far?

My PPD tutor is Suzanne Aldridge. I have really enjoyed it as I know I have someone to speak to if I have an issue.

Have you been on any trips since joining? No. But my Politics teacher is planning a Houses Of Parliament trip.

What are your ambitions for the future? I really want to go to university- possibly to study politics or something social sciences related.

How do you travel to The Henley College?

I take the train.

What do you enjoy about your Enrichment? I go to a couple - obviously Student Union is my favourite. But I also go to LGBT club - this has been a perfect safe haven for some of my friends and the welfare team member Millie is so lovely and it really brightens up my Thursdays.

Is there anything else you would like to say about life at The Henley College?

THC really does prepare you for the outside world - whether that be going to University or taking on some kind of apprenticeship - it teaches you the academic and social skills needed for your next steps.

What do you like to do outside of college?

I really enjoy all things music and drama (currently writing this coming back from a gig!) and they’re combined into one through musical theatre - which I used to take part in through amateur productions. Like most college students I can also be seen listening to various music genres to and from college.

Do you have a job?

Yes! I work on the cheese and deli counter in Waitrose - hoping for a promotion to the meat and fish counter in the near future!

Favourite book? That’s a tough one. It’s either between Elenor and Park or Heartstopper!
Favourite film? Bridget Jones’ Diary
Favourite food? Ice cream
Favourite holiday? Any holiday that involves a pool and good food!
Any pets? I have a border terrier named Ziggy!
Any siblings? Younger sister!

Any plans for summer?

Having fun with my new college friends! (Maybe also sleeping - a lot)
