BTEC Level 3 Engineering student, James Harrison tells us how the course helped him gain his first engineering role
"I chose to study BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Electronics Engineering because of my strong passion for, and strengths in, Complex Mathematics and Physics, which was furthered during my time studying at The Henley College.
During the course we covered units on Computer-Aided Design, Engineering Principles and Static Mechanical Principles Mathematics and basics and Fundamentals involved in understanding how Electronic components in varied circuits operate when connected together.
In my second year this understanding of the operations and intricacies of electronic devices and circuit components, was enhanced by creating and simulating numerous flowchart-style programmes.
We also studied various methods and variations of 3D printing as well as 3D model slicing softwares, and worked on the planning and designing new products. The units we studied have transformed the way I think about Engineering and bettered my traits of enthusiasm, ingenuity and creativity towards the diverse topics of Mechanical and Electronics Engineering.
My experience of studying these modules gave me the expertise and knowledge I needed to gain the most from my recent CAD and Electronics-based role at a Light Systems manufacturer and engineering company."
