College launches Accounting for adult learners in Henley

The Henley College has announced they are now offering adult learners the opportunity to study an AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping this Autumn.

Working in partnership with Mindful Education the qualification will be taught using a combination of online and in person teaching to make learning fit in and around work and life commitments.

Increasing numbers of adult learners are looking to retrain or change career as a result of unemployment caused by the pandemic, and the College and Mindful Education have sought to provide an innovative teaching solution to meet these needs.

Video lessons can be accessed at any time, using any device, allowing learners to choose how, when and where they want to study.

Students will also benefit from regular college classes, including experienced teacher Sophie Walters, from Caversham, who has recently joined the College. Speaking about her new role, Sophie said: "Before embarking on my teaching career I worked in the finance sector as a qualified chartered management accountant for 25 years, 19 of which I worked as Finance Manager for the John Lewis Partnership, mainly for Waitrose. I have worked at various schools since taking my PGCE and I am excited to be able to use my extensive business and finance experience in my lessons at the College."

Vice Principal, Eamonn Egan said: ‘I’m delighted to be working in partnership with Mindful Education, offering new professional qualifications for adults, starting with the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping. The award-winning Mindful Education online learning platform offers a flexible mode of learning for adults who want to upskill or retrain at times that suit them.’

The AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping course starts on the 11th October and will run for 15 weeks, with in person classes taking place at the College every other Monday from 5.30-8.30pm. The cost of the course is £150.

More adult professional qualifications are to be announced, including progression to an AAT Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping.
