Alex named Outstanding New Teacher

Classical Civilisations teacher Alex Winch has been named Outstanding New Teacher at the Classical Association Teaching Awards. Alex was nominated by his colleague and fellow teacher Jonathon Herman who said:

“Alex has worked tirelessly since the beginning of his teaching career to create a wealth of resources for his Ancient History and Classical Civilisation students. He’s provided extension activities, supported an Ancient Languages and Archaeology enrichment programme, and his commitment to Classics is particularly commendable, as he taught some classes on a voluntary basis in order to keep Classical Civilisation flourishing at The Henley College."

Upon receiving the award, Alex said:

“I was completely shocked; the email came entirely out of the blue! I was absolutely honoured to hear that Jonny felt I should be nominated and that the Classical Association felt that my contribution to the teaching of Classics and Ancient History was worth honouring. It only serves to further cement my commitment to publicising, promoting, and teaching these brilliant subjects, which we are lucky enough to be able to teach at Henley.”

Congratulations to Alex and thank you to Jonathon for supporting and celebrating his colleague in such a positive way.
