Admissions Administrator Dom Shares Application Advice

Dom, 22, our Admissions Administrator gives advice to students about applying to The Henley College.

Dom, 22, is our Admissions Administrator who lives in Charvil, near Twyford. We asked him some questions to get to know the man behind the application process.  

What does your job entail? 

I help manage the entire admissions process to The Henley College and helping with events when I am needed.

Why should students apply early?

Students should apply early to guarantee themselves a place on to the courses they want to study.

Any advice/ top tips for students picking their subjects?

I would advise students to get cracking with the application process as soon as possible and feel free to ask us any questions you have along the way!

What do you enjoy most about your job/ working at The Henley College?

My colleagues and how we work together

What’s special about The Henley College?

The sense of community.

Funniest moment/ question from a student so far?

I spoke to a student who was convinced we were based in a different country to where we are.

How would you describe yourself in three words?

Sociable, kind and committed.

How do you spend your time outside of work/hobbies?

Playing football and table tennis, plus long-distance running and cycling.

Proudest achievement?

I cycled the distance of France from coast to coast in a week.

Best holiday?

Croatia in Dubrovnik where game of thrones is filmed

What’s your career history?

I worked at Waitrose in almost every department for a year and a half followed by working at the Bull Inn, Sonning, for three years helping to manage a kitchen.

Tell us about the marathon you’re training for.

It is a self-created route that I am running on the same day as the London Marathon. I am doing it for CLDF and Cancer Research UK, in memory of my godfather who passed away in 2020. I am encouraging my friends and family to do a whacky last mile with me where they run with me for the last mile in fancy dress.

Exciting future plans/ career ambitions?

I would like to do some more travelling and eventually move to Leamington Spa or London to further my career.
