A chance to study my chosen subject

When her previous school was unable to offer her the subject choice she wanted, Faith applied to The Henley College and discovered more than just a programme of study.

“I came to The Henley College from Highdown School in Caversham – Henley offered the course I wanted to study, their choice of courses is great.

All of the staff that I met at Henley on open days and information evenings were very professional, knew what they were talking about, and were friendly and welcoming. The facilities are impeccable; the College appeared to and does specialise in many subjects.

I enjoy the lovely atmosphere I am surrounded by at Henley. Everyone is friendly and approachable. Also, I am amazed with the way everything is run. I am able to, and encouraged to, study independently to get a feel for the 'real-world' while still knowing I am more than welcome to seek and receive help and advice from my teachers.

The College provides top standard teaching and equipment in order for me to be able to achieve the highest grade possible. On a personal level, if I ever feel in need of emotional support or someone to talk to, then I can easily seek that assistance from the college counsellor, my teachers, or tutor.

My subject, Creative Media Production, is very hands-on and therefore there is never a dull moment. I have also signed myself up for the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.

During my first assignment I had to 'cold-call' and secure a filmed interview with a professional in the fashion industry. This was really nerve-racking but I managed to do it.

I went to Sky Studios in November 2019. During this visit, we created our own news report and were lucky enough to view Sky Sports being aired live. This was a great experience and an insight into what the media industry has to offer. I was due to go to New York in the Easter half-term, but unfortunately it has had to be postponed due to COVID-19.

All of the staff around me clearly want what's best for me and are actively helping me get where I want to go. My tutor has hosted many informative sessions on universities and how you can work towards getting accepted on a course. However, when I leave Henley I would like to go on to an apprenticeship in an area within the creative media industry.

I would definitely recommend The Henley College to other students, I believe it is a great institution."
