This qualification is equivalent in size to one A Level. It may be taken alongside other Applied courses and/or A Levels as part of a two-year, full-time study programme.

There are four units in total. Functional Anatomy and Applied Sport and Exercise Psychology are externally assessed (worth 58%). The internal assessments are Specialised Fitness Training, and Coaching for Performance and Fitness (worth 42%). |

Designed to support progression to higher education when taken as part of a programme of study that includes other appropriate BTEC Nationals or A Levels.
Future careers might include PE teaching, lecturing, sports management, coaching, physiotherapy, exercise physiology, sports nutrition, sports psychology, sports journalism, sports analysis, sports therapy and strength and conditioning.
It is also excellent preparation for those wanting to progress to industry-recognised qualifications and careers in sports therapy, the fitness industry and coaching.
The qualification is aimed at learners who are looking to progress to employment in the sports sector. The majority of students will progress onto Higher Education and study degrees in Sport and Exercise Science, Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy or Sports Coaching. Other options include Advanced Apprenticeships in Personal Training, Community Sport and Health Officer, Advanced Coach in Sport and Physical Activity, amongst many more.
