Business Studies Extended Diploma students attended the Henley Late Night Shopping Event, to run a Market Stall as part of their coursework for their level 3 unit, ‘Managing a Business Event’ whilst raising proceeds for Sue Ryder.

The student’s event team included Tayyba Jamil, Sana Salam, Joshua Dodswoth, Iqraa Tariq, Orla O’Mahony and Tiffany Ignass who were able to plan and run their event in less than a month. They obtained a number of donations from local business including Waitrose, Cafe Nero, Costa, Cakes by Emma, Cakes today crumbs tomorrow, Cake Kitchen, Farah Cakes and Bakes and Clinton’s Cakes.

Orla commented "I believe that this event has equipped me with skills that are valuable for my future. Liaising with businesses in a professional manner has boosted my confidence whilst getting an insight for how the events management industry is like. I have thoroughly enjoyed this topic." whilst Iqraa said "I have enjoyed this experience very much, it has given me the ability to enhance my skills and introduce new ones. This unit has enabled me to have an understanding of events, the time and effort that goes into events as a whole. It has encouraged me to be more confident in my own ability."

Events Lecturer, Sarah Price said “The students worked tirelessly to put on this event in a very short amount of time. They showed great determination and effort pulling this together and worked together as team to ensure its success. I am very proud to work with such professional and passionate students.”

Curriculum Leader for Business, Economics, Politics and Travel and Tourism, Swapna Jare added; “Managing a Business Event is an important part of the business curriculum where students are able to apply their teaching from inside the classroom and gain the practical experience outside the classroom. To see students work with the local community and raise money for charity whilst showing professionalism at every stage of the event process is truly very impressive.”

The Henley College would like to extend a BIG thankyou to all the businesses and the community who have supported our students.
