Silver medals won at the München Regatta

Congratulations to A Level student Mary Wright and BTEC Sport and Exercise Sciences student Ella Morgan who represented the GB Juniors at the prestigious München Regatta held earlier this month in Munich, Germany.

Mary and Ella are enrolled in The Henley College's Girls Elite Rowing Programme, which is run in conjunction with the Henley Rowing Club. The girls finished 1st in their division for the Junior Women's 2- gaining a silver medal, having also competed in the JW 4- event.

Students involved in an elite sports programme at The Henley College are timetabled with training sessions during the day which, enables them to concentrate on their studies during the evening. Ella Morgan said: "Being able to train during the day has made a huge difference to my studies. I am now gaining distinctions in my Sport BTEC. The mix between training and college work is great”, she went on to add: “I have 16 hours of training timetabled at the club, we are also able to have academic study time between sessions”.

Next for the girls rowing squad are the National Schools Regatta and Henley Women’s and Royal Regatta, more medals are predicted for what is the most successful girls rowing programme in the UK.
