Business, Economics and Politics Students undertook an educational experience to New York and Washington DC during February Half Term 2019.
The students started in New York with a jam packed itinerary:
New York - Madison Square Garden Access Tour – a behind the scene look at aspects of Business Events Management and Sports Management. Students learned about the iconic venue and the vast array of different events held there including fun facts. Did you know that the event space has 3 different floors that they put together like a jigsaw for the different events.
New York – United Nations Tour – Students gained an insight into the role of the United Nations in the Global Climate and had the opportunity to sit in the chambers where key economic and political discussions have been held. They understood more about global challenges affecting the world and the strategies applied by the United Nations.
New York – Walking Tour of Wall Street and Downtown New York – Students gained a historical and political tour of Wall Street and Downtown area. We walked around key monuments and buildings learning more about the historical and political impact of their meaning. We undertook a tour of Wall Street and learned more about the Economic statue and symbol of the Charging Bull.
As well as the educational elements of the trip, students also experienced the following tourism destinations:
- Statue of Liberty
- Rockefeller Tower [Top of the Rock]
- Empire State Building
- 9/11 Memorial
Washington D.C. – Capitol Building Tour Educational Tour - Students were able to gain an international perspective on American Politics and undertook a guided tour and seminar within Washington D.C. Capitol Building. Students learned about the American Political climate and could compare the constitution to the UK political system.
Students also had an opportunity to widen their educational knowledge in a wider skills set with a visit Washington Supreme Court as well as the American Air and Space Museum.
