James Brister, Industry and Liaison Executive from the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP) came to give a talk to music production students this week. As part of the industry and careers hub, his role is to work with students to focus on professional development within the music industry though industry events and careers days.

James Brister, Industry and Liaison Executive from the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP) came to give a talk to music production students this week. As part of the industry and careers hub, his role is to work with students to focus on professional development within the music industry though industry events and careers days.
James said “This is my second time here at The Henley College, and yet again it’s great to see how engaged the students were and how pertinent their questions were to the music industry. I’ve been impressed by how focused and proactive they are and look forward to hearing about their future careers”
Nick Blake, A level music production teacher added that “It’s wonderful for James to come along and share his knowledge and experience with our students. It’s important to anyone studying at The Henley College to get the opportunity to hear from someone like James. ICMP have a wonderful footprint and despite their success and growth, have maintained their quality”
Holly Van-Der-Rest, who studies A levels in Music Technology, Ancient History and Media Studies said she found the talk really “useful and interesting” whilst Daniel Paddock, who studies A levels in Music Technology, Politics and Sociology thought that the talk was “very engaging. I would like to study for a degree in Politics, but have learnt about how important networking, building relationships and marketing yourself is in building a successful career”
Adam Cookson, who studies A levels in Music Technology, Maths and Physics plans to go to University to study music production, said “I’ve found this really useful, especially how to go about building connections in the industry.”
