Institute of Contemporary Music Performance

On November 30th the Music Technology department visited the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in Kilburn, London.

Our current A Level and A2 students were given a tour of the facilities and experienced two workshops in Music Production by Marcello Ruggiu.  Marcello teaches on the Music Production BA (Hons) degree course and A Level students were given two workshops using his experience in Sound Design and Music Production.  During the morning workshop 1 was on how to create new sounds from samples using Ableton Live and Logic Pro and how this can be incorporated into any DAW of working choice and workshop 2 in the afternoon was a mixing masterclass using ProTools, of which an A-Level student brought an example of a multitrack recording they are working on for the A2 exam.  Also, students were toured some of the Music Production facilities including their Recording and Production studio hosting an Audient mixing console, running various DAW software programmes and Focal speakers.
