Henley College Basketball records impressive win over Reading College

The Henley College Basketball Academy recorded an impressive victory last Wednesday afternoon, as they beat Reading College 67-47 at the John Madejski Academy.

The two teams had previously met before the Christmas break and it was Reading College who were victorious on that day winning by 11.

Head Coach for the day Ben Fisher was really pleased to see the team record their first win and is excited to see the progression made by the group under coaches Sydney Donaldson and Antonio Acuña. He said, “Credit to the guys, after a shaky start, they started to play with a lot more intent and commitment and in turn were able to step up their defence and play in transition. Before the game we spoke about our behaviours being key and making sure we committed to all our choices. We didn’t do that in the beginning but as the game went on this got a lot better and we were able to put in a performance worthy of the work the guys have been putting in.”

Josh Adams and Alex Halmkan led the Henley team with some great inside-outside play with Manus Leidi coming to life in the second half to bolster the back court. With Elias John and Georgi Georgiev out injured, Kai Hope and Alan Dagdagan stepped up with Antonio Casanova and Issac Kusi getting some valuable court time as the Henley outfit played much better defence to secure a valuable win.

The team will be back in action later this month when they take on Licence Vitualar School on Wednesday 27th February.
