Geology students exercise fieldwork techniques

Geology students visit the Natural History Museum in Oxford and the Rock Edge Quarry, Headington.

On the 1 December 2016, Geology students visited the Natural History Museum in Oxford and the Rock Edge Quarry, Headington.

Students attended lectures on the thematic of Tectonics and Paleontology given by Professor Mike Searle (Earth Sciences at Oxford University) and Professor Paul Smith (Director of Oxford University Museum of Natural History).

At the Rock Edge Quarry, the students had the opportunity to put their fieldwork skills into practice that included drawing geological cross-sections, measuring geological structural with compass clinometers and identifying and analysing rocks.
