French student Olivia spends week with host family

Olivia Coles spent a week in France staying with a host family to improve her language skills and fluency in French in order to prepare for exams.

Livvy Coles, joined us from Gillotts School, and currently studies A-level Biology, Psychology and French.
She said - "The trip to France allowed me to improve my language skills and fluency in order to prepare for my A-level French exams- in particular my speaking exam. I also wanted to experience and learn more about French culture, which is one of the topics we covered."
Olivia talks about her time at college and why she made the choice to join us -
"The positive and welcoming atmosphere was the first thing I noticed upon arrival at The Henley College. All the teachers and the students were friendly and approachable so it felt really easy to make friends and settle in. I was amazed by the wide range of extra-curricular activities available to the students as part of the college."

"I chose to come to The Henley College as I wanted to get a taste of independence when learning, in preparation for university. It was the passion and enthusiasm of the teachers which impressed me most. In particular the French teacher, Stephanie, who inspired me to have the confidence to choose the subject despite my doubts."

"After leaving The Henley College, I hope to go to University to study either Biology or Complementary medicine. I would love to use my French language skills to work abroad or even perhaps live in France"

"French A level is brilliant as it offers you endless opportunities such as working or living abroad and meeting new people from different countries and cultures. Learning French at A level has given me the confidence to read, write, listen and speak the language. It has also given me an insight into the history and culture of France and other French-speaking countries."
