Former Henley College student & AASE graduate Alec Hepburn is selected to play rugby for England RFU 6 nations Squad

Alec, who also went to Gillotts School in Henley, studied A Levels in PE, Film Studies and Chemistry at the Henley College. Combining his education with his position as Vice Captain of the College Rugby Team, he successfully graduated in 2010.

After playing for the Henley Hawks, he then progressed to playing for Henley Wasps, London Welsh and the Exeter Chiefs.

Martin Unsworth, a Staff Governor, teacher and Rugby Manager at The Henley College recalls his memories of popular student Alec.

“Alec and I go back a long way when I first started coaching him at The Henley College. I used to drive him to training camps and recall watching him playing for England under 18 and predicting then that he would play for England. I have been avidly following him ever since, from playing with the England under 20 to watching this lovely lad play for Henley, London Welsh and Exeter. Alec had two very big injuries but at the age of 24 was always on the radar to move up from his England Saxons cap earned in South Africa. Alec has truly earned this selection as one of the real prospects of the Premiership”

Many of the staff who know him have (literally) been jumping for joy.

Congratulations Alec!

The first rugby game of the Six Nation's tournament will be England v Italy on February 4th in Rome.
