Creative Media Production trip to Paris

This March, 38 Creative Media students visited Disneyland Paris for the annual Media LIVE! Conference.

Curriculum Leader Sarah Wilson said: “The Media LIVE! Conference is a fantastic opportunity for students to hear about the many different paths a career in media can take. The talks gave students a unique insight into what is needed to make their way through a highly competitive industry and helps them to prepare for life after college.”

This year’s speakers included former MTV Senior Manager and BAFTA voting member, Cally Beaton, Social Media Consultant, Andrew Davis and Lucy Brett who is Head of Education at the BBFC.

The 4 day trip included 2 days entrance to Disneyland Park and Studios where students were able to watch backstage stunt shows, see how Disney’s animations are put together and test their nerve on the wide selection of rides they have on offer. An evening’s entertainment at Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show saw 2 students selected to take part as the red team were victorious in the Rodeo Games! The final night in the park saw an incredible light and firework show projected onto the Disney castle, showcasing the best and most iconic work Disney has produced.

The last of the 4 days was spent in the centre of Paris with students visiting the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower and spending the last of their Euros down the Champs-Elysées.

Student Toby Hill said: ”I had an awesome time and I truly enjoyed it and loved the whole experience. I learnt a lot from the speakers and it’s given me a greater understanding of the whole industry.”
