College celebrates Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

The Henley College has celebrated equality, diversity and inclusion with a daytime event held in support of Breast Cancer Care and the College's Pathways department.

The event builds on three years of successfully embedding a positive approach to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion within the College, during which the College has achieved Investors in Diversity recognition at Stages 1 and 2 and is currently working towards Leaders in Diversity.

Staff and students were invited to browse stalls by College groups such as the Amnesty International Youth Group, International Affairs Discussion Group, Library and LGBT group. There were live performances by teacher and professional musician Steve Morano and Performing Arts students. A Buddhist nun gave an introductory talk and session on meditation, the refectory supplied a range of world foods and the Pathways department held a raffle and sold potted plants and hanging baskets prepared by their students.

Beryl Richardson, the Manager responsible for Equality and Diversity, said: 'The event today is an opportunity for the students and staff to celebrate difference and to embrace the diverse culture of the College. At Henley we offer a wide range of activities in support of an inclusive community and students are actively encouraged to get involved and participate.'
