Cambridge Chemistry Challenge

In May, six of our 1st year A-level Chemistry students took part in the annual “Cambridge Chemistry Challenge”, organised by St. Catherine’s College Cambridge.

The organisers describe the 90 minute test as an opportunity to challenge all students, including the most able. The paper is designed to test different skills to an A-level paper, and this year the paper had a theme based around the Periodic Table (as it is 150 years since the Periodic Table was first constructed) and consequently had some unfamiliar material in the questions.

Four of the students, Adam Cooper, Saoirse Coveney, Gemma Harling and Elliot Wilson achieved a commendable Copper award, and Alex Heath achieved an impressive Silver award. Madison Nunan managed to achieve a gold award, which puts her in the top 10% of those who took part, and which hasn’t been achieved at Henley for at least the last 5 years. Congratulations to all of those who took part.
