Call of the Wild 2018

From the 5th to the 8th March, 49 students from Public Services Level 3 Extended Diploma first years embarked on an activity residential trip to Abercrave, Brecon.

All students took part in extreme activities of Gorge Walking, Rock Climbing and Caving as compulsory elements of teamwork and leadership on their course.

All students also participated in a teamwork and map navigation challenge by preparing for and taking part in a night hike and camping with different teaching groups on different nights of the trip.

Molli Patrick “ I walked up a hill longer than I thought I could. I worked with lots of new people and have become good friends with them!”

Sharna Marie-Smith ”Hiking up to camp and then setting up the tent made our group stronger as a class”

Fergus Mander- “ I did all the activities and enjoyed being out in the natural environment away from digital distraction!”

Andrew Unsworth (Public Service Teacher) - I am particularly proud of the efforts of all the students who attended this year for participating so positively in difficult weather conditions. The improvement in confidence, energy and determination in the students since returning has been remarkable!”
