Business students learn Employability and life skills

Working Options in Education came into college to teach our students valuable life skills to take away. They help young people to aim high and fulfil their potential through a series of employability and life skills programmes. These 4 new interactive workshops focus on employability skills gaps identified by students and reflect those that employers are keen to see in new recruits. The workshops aim to upskill the students.

Working Options in Education gave students workshops that are aimed to help them with their Presentation skills. Business Lecturer, Christine Liddle said about the workshops - "Presentation skills are an important life skill that our students will find useful, whether they choose to go to university or straight into work. With good presentation skills, they’ll be able to communicate with confidence in a variety of situations. This workshop gave them practical tips on how to get their message across and gave them the opportunity to try their new skills in small groups.

Lauren, as Head of Operations at Working Options in Education: "We selected Henley College as one of our pilot colleges for these workshops as they are a fantastic college, with committed, passionate staff and brilliant students. We thoroughly enjoyed delivering the workshops and the students were bright, engaged, and enthusiastic throughout and we look forward to continuing to strengthen our partnership with Henley."

The feedback from teachers and students was excellent, and they both found in very beneficial. Business student Sam said about the workshops- "After experiencing yesterdays problem solving lesson, I brought home many useful tips that could help me with practically any problem I face. I was especially fascinated by the interactive learning we took part in and this allowed me to understand a lot better. The tip that caught my eye the most was 'strategising', as I never looked at a problem in this way. Next time I face a problem of my own I will use this tip to help tackle the experience. I would like to say thank you for a great experience!"

Another student, Rory Brown said- "The activities that we did were very enlightening and gave me a better insight into problem solving. In my opinion, the 'think outside the box' method is one that I need to invest in more often, as it encourages creativity and alternative thoughts. I would like to say thank you to Working Options, as it has helped with my approach to problem solving."
