BBC South Today at The Henley College

It was an exciting start to the week at The Henley College as BBC South Today were filming on our playing fields.

We welcomed back former student Robert Paterson who has been shortlisted for The Inventor Prize for designing a smart gum shield that monitors impacts to the head. The shield alerts coaches to potential head injury and aims to drastically reduce misdiagnosed head injuries from sport.

The project is of personal significance to Robert as he himself suffered a serious misdiagnosed head injury whilst playing rugby. Despite this trauma, Robert went on to secure a First Class Hons Masters in Design Engineering at Loughborough University.

Robert is one of 10 shortlisted entrants for the prize that acknowledges the UK’s brightest new inventors.
