A strong foundation for future success

Our students are celebrating their exam results, but these recent achievements are just the beginning for so many students who progress on to bright and highly successful academic futures following their studies at Henley.

Each year, both our A Level and vocational students continue to secure places at top universities, including Oxbridge and Russell Group institutions. Henley equips these outstanding young people with the maturity, confidence and scholarly brilliance to achieve the highest grades at university.

Figures released by the Sixth Form Colleges Association show students from The Henley College are more likely to achieve a First Class degree than those who have attended other 16-19 institutions.

More than 84% finish university with a 2:1 or better. More than a quarter achieve a First, putting the college well ahead of the average for all Sixth Form Colleges, and both State and Independent school sixth forms. And the figures are even better for The Henley College students who go to Russell Group universities. Nearly 90% achieve a 2:1 or higher.  Just under 30% graduate with a First.

Satwant Deol, Principal of The Henley College, has welcomed the figures. “We know The Henley College is a great place to learn,” she said. “We are very proud of our academic achievements and the way students develop through the many enrichment opportunities they have at college.  These figures show how the excellent grounding we offer can really help our students to achieve when they get to university.”

Henley College’s strong foundation for university life is recognised by parents who have sons and daughters studying at Henley.

Tess Harris, whose daughter Katia secured A* A A grades this year commented: “We have been really happy as parents of an A Level student at Henley College with both the support provided by the college and the academic input.” She added “Our daughter thrived at Henley College, it provided excellent academic input across all her subjects and also taught her to be an independent learner. She has done really well in her A Levels, securing the place that she wanted at her university of choice and will get the most out of her future studies as she has a fantastic approach to studying. We couldn't be happier that she chose Henley College.”

Ju Hone’s daughter Megan achieved A*A B and A in her EPQ. A delighted Ms Hone said: “(Megan) actually got 356 of a possible 360 marks in Geography! Her Geography teacher has been incredible! Megan’s gained her first choice place at St Andrews to study Social Anthropology. We are over the moon. She has thoroughly enjoyed Henley College and it’s a great stepping-stone between school and university. I wouldn’t hesitate to send any of my other children to Henley College. It’s been a really positive experience for us all.”
