A Level Media Students highlight their music video production talent!

First year Media Studies students have just completed a unit on music videos, studying the history & communication theory behind the genre. They were set a task over the last 2 weeks to produce their own music video, allowing them to develop new production skills using digital cameras & audiovisual editing software. Students submitted final pieces for an end of term competition.

First year Media Studies students have just completed a unit on music videos, studying the history & communication theory behind the genre. They were set a task over the last 2 weeks to produce their own music video, allowing them to develop new production skills using digital cameras & audiovisual editing software. Students submitted final pieces for an end of term competition.

Prizes included a debut Vinyl album and t shirt from the artist ‘Rat Boy’, known for his distinction blend of hip-hop with indie-rock http://www.ratboy.co.uk/

The top 3 prize winners were:

  • Amber Baird with ‘Bonkers’
  • Zack Thomas with ‘Cry me a River’
  • Loic Rana with ‘Fetish’.

Their teacher Alan Gubby commented, “I have been really impressed with the creativity, commitment and innovation shown by this year’s students. I have no doubt, that this will stand them in good stead for any future career or study choices relating to creative media.”
