MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THE RULES
1. You must be on time for all examinations. If you are late your work might not be accepted.
2. You must not become involved in any unfair or dishonest practice in any part of the examination.
3. You may take into the examination room only the materials and equipment which are allowed. You must not take into the examination room any unauthorised materials (for example: calculator cases and instruction leaflets, bags, revision notes, mobile phones, any other electronic equipment). Any pencil cases taken into the room must be transparent. Possession of unauthorised material is an infringement of the regulations even if you do not intend to use it.
4. ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT must not be taken into the examination hall under any circumstances. If you bring your phone with you on the day of the exam it must be switched off and left outside the hall with your other personal belongings. As the College is unable to provide a secure place for personal possessions this will be AT YOUR OWN RISK and you are advised not to bring your phone (or other valuable items) with you on the day of the examination. Any candidate found with any electronic equipment on their person during an examination could be liable for disqualification by the examining board from either the paper, the whole subject or all subjects.
5. You must not bring any food with you into the exam hall. Bottled water (with a secure screw fit cap) will be allowed into the exam hall but you MUST keep the bottle on the floor next to your desk. If your paper becomes damaged as a result of bringing in a drink this will be at your own risk.
6. You must not talk to or otherwise communicate with or disturb any other candidate once you have entered the examination hall.
7. Once your exam has ended and you have left the examination room you will not be allowed to return.
8. If you try to use any unfair practice, or break the rules in any way, you could be disqualified from all your subjects.
MAKE SURE YOU ATTEND
1. Know the dates and times of your examinations. Check your statements of entry very carefully. All AM exams start at 9.00am and all PM exams start at 1.30pm.
2. Arrive at least fifteen minutes before the start time of each exam. Make sure you have noted the correct venue details. Look at seat plans on LearnZone before your exam to find out where you will be sitting. These plans will also be displayed outside the exam hall.
3. Make sure know your CANDIDATE NUMBER, as the examination desks will be set out in candidate number order inside the examination hall. The candidate numbers will be clearly visible on each desk. Note: If you are a candidate with extra time your desk will normally be situated in a separate row, rather than in candidate number order.
4. If you arrive late for an examination, report to the Invigilator. If you arrive after the exam has ended, you will not normally be allowed to take it.
PROVIDE WHAT YOU NEED FOR THE EXAM
5. Take into the exam hall the black pens, pencils and any equipment you need. Correcting fluid must not be used.
6. Leave outside anything you do not require or that is not allowed in the exam hall.
7. You must write in black ink, except for multiple choice test papers. Coloured pencils or inks may be used only for diagrams, maps, etc.
8. You may not borrow anything from another candidate during the examination.
CALCULATORS, DICTIONARIES AND SPELL CHECKERS
1. You must bring your own calculator, unless you are told you must not.
2. If a calculator is permitted for your exam:
- make sure it works properly
- it must not contain any stored data or programmes
- do not bring into the exam room any operating instructions or calculator cases/lids which have printed instructions
3. You must not use a dictionary or computer spell-checker unless you are told that you may do so.
1. Listen to the invigilator and follow the instructions given.
2. Make sure you are sitting at the correct desk with your correct candidate number.
3. Read the instructions printed on the question paper and/or answer booklet before the start of the examination.
4. Tell the invigilator at once:
- if you think you have not been given the correct question paper or all the materials listed on the front of the paper
- if the question paper is incomplete or badly printed.
5. Do your rough work only on the proper examination stationery. Cross it through and hand it in with your answers.
1. If during the examination:
- you have a problem and are in doubt about what you should do,
- you feel ill,
- you need more paper,
Put up your hand.
3. You must not ask for, and will not be given, any explanation of the questions.
1. You will be given a five minute warning before the end of the examination. You must complete all the details on your answer sheets before the official end of the exam.
2. If you have used more than one answer booklet and/or any loose sheets of paper, you must place them in the order in which questions have been attempted and fasten them together at the back of the main answer booklet. Remember to put your name and candidate number on each sheet of paper used.
3. If you finish the examination early, you will not be permitted to leave the examination hall until your allotted examination time is up. This is to avoid undue disturbance to other candidates.
4. When your examination has finished you must sit in silence until all materials have been collected and you must leave the room in silence when you are directed to do so. Collect your belongings in an orderly fashion and in silence. YOU MUST NOT TALK UNTIL YOU ARE WELL CLEAR OF THE EXAMINATION HALL. Other candidates may be continuing their exams and any noise made directly outside the examination hall will disturb them. You are asked to show consideration for these students.
5. You must not take from the exam room any exam stationery, rough work or other materials provided for the exam.
