Upgrade Tutors

The Henley College is seeking highly motivated specialist tutors to work as part of their Upgrade Team. The aim of Upgrade support is to include and help any student with learning difficulties and to give them the skills they need to do better in their studies. Members of the team tutor students for one-to-one hour long sessions in: AS, A2 subject specific tutoring; BTEC Levels 2 and 3 vocational courses; GCSE English and Maths; essay writing, exam preparation and workload management. In addition students might need more specialist support if they have learning difficulties, dyslexia, dyspraxia, Asperger's Syndrome, visual or hearing impairments, medical conditions and mental health issues.

An Upgrade Tutor would give a one hour's individual session to explore subjects within a broader context, using a student-centred scheme of work, assignment specifications and past papers as well as topical examples and other references so that the student can see how specific learning skills apply to them. Students have the potential to improve their work grades by attending learning support.

Specialism in Chemistry, Maths and Business would be an advantage. Tutoring hours are term time only and can be worked flexibly between 8:45pm and 4pm, hourly rate of pay £27.49.

If you are interested in applying please send a letter of introduction to: The Personnel Office, The Henley College, Deanfield Avenue, Henley-on-Thames, Oxon RG9 1UH.
