Transition to College
The next stage in your life ……………
You have made the decision to apply to The HENLEY College, a sixth form college with an excellent academic reputation.
Research has shown that a sixth form college is the best place to achieve high results and acquire the independent learning skills which will give you an excellent preparation for university study. These transferable and life-long skills will also be invaluable in any employment you will undertake after college or university.
You will start to take responsibility for your own learning, with the support of your tutors, and find new ways of making your studies fulfilling and enriching. In so doing, you will discover for yourself the spirit of enquiry and curiosity which will last you a lifetime. Real learning is always personal, so everything you do will take you on your own individual journey. You will grow in confidence with each challenge you set yourself.
You also need to develop your ability to manage your time effectively and combine your studies with other life experiences so that both are enriched.
To help you achieve these goals with us, we expect you to be well-prepared for this exciting new stage in your life.
Our academic staff have devised an activity or short research project for every course and subject. We ask you to complete this before you start your studies with us.
So, find your subject or course in the Course Finder. On the right of the page you will see the link to transition activities. Engage fully in the task there and set your own personal timetable for achieving it before the start of term.
We expect you to be committed to your future and we want every student to be a full participant in the learning journey.
We wish you every success.
