What is the deadline for applications?
We encourage you to get your application to us this year by 1st May 2011. Although we will still accept applications after this date, they may be subject to waiting lists.
What if I don't get the grades I need for my course?
You should still come to the Enrolment and Advisory service, on the day and time you have been given. You will get help to choose an alternative course.
What if my grades are much better than predicted?
You should still come to the Enrolment and Advisory service, on the day and time you have been given. The interviewer will discuss all options with you.
My enrolment number isn't on the Information Sheet, when should I come into enrol?
If you look carefully, you will see the numbers say 'up to and including'. This means your number is there.
Can I change my AS Level subjects once I have had my interview?
Yes, provided there is space and you meet the entry requirements. Discuss this with the Admissions office.
Can I take my A2s at The HENLEY College if I have done my AS Levels somewhere else?
Possibly. Each query has to be looked at individually because it can be a complicated issue. Ideally the exam boards should be the same, as for some subjects you cannot transfer from one board to another. The work you have covered needs to be compatible with that done by our students. Your AS grades need to be appropriate, and you will still need to meet our entry requirements with your GCSE grades. However, A2 teaching starts on 7 June, so you will be expected to attend lessons from then, even though you will not enrol until September.
I'm not in full time education, will a reference from my employer be acceptable?
If you have been out of education for three years or more a reference from your employer will be acceptable. If you have been out of education for less than three years we prefer a reference from your previous school or college.
What is the admissions procedure for international students?
International students should complete the first part of the application form, then ask their school for a reference and copies of the most recent school report. Obviously the 'points' entry system will not apply, so we rely heavily on school reports and recommendation of academic ability. If a foreign student is visiting the area before the start of the academic year, we will endeavour to organise an interview at a mutually convenient time. Telephone interviews can also be arranged, if necessary. Overseas students are not expected to attend the July Open Evening, but it would be useful if they could enrol at the normal time. An email contact address is extremely helpful.
Please be aware that the College is not registered with the UK Border Agency and we are unable to help students with visa applications.
What is the voluntary contribution used for?
It covers contributions towards membership of the College Student Union, the College Enrichment Programme and The HENLEY College Fund. Your contributions provide us with a capital fund without which many of our important activities could not take place. Accounts of the fund can be examined on request. Students wishing to be members of the Student Union need to make at least a £6 voluntary contribution.
Where can students park their cars?
There is a student car park close to the College. You will need to obtain a permit to use the car park from Deanfield Reception. You will not be permitted to park anywhere else on College property.
