Manufacturing Engineering:
Extended Diploma

This Diploma will be of use to you if you are considering a career in Engineering from product design through to high technology production methods and technical sales. If you achieve good Diploma grades you would be a likely candidate for entrance to Higher Education, employment in Industry or entry to the Armed Forces

This course is an ideal introduction to the wide subject of Engineering. The main subjects you will study include Business Systems and Communications for Technicians, Mathematics, Engineering Drawing, Engineering Design, Computer Aided Design, Computer Numerical Control, Computer Aided Manufacture, Manufacturing Planning, Manufacturing Processes, Mechanical Science and Materials Technology.

Through practical work you will have the opportunity to design and make a range of interesting projects. During the two years of the course you must successfully complete eighteen units for the award of a Diploma. Grades of Merit and Distinction can also be awarded for modules where students achieve creditable performances.

You will be assessed by continuous assessment methods, ie coursework, assignments, projects and tests.
